He studied medicine at the University of Valencia, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Clinical Hospital of that city and subspecializing in Reproductive Medicine at Yale University (USA), and the University of Mainz (Germany). Having been a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Valencia since 1999, he was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry from 2006 to 2012. He has headed the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of La Fe University Hospital since 2009.

Professional Career

Professor Pellicer is a member of the Executive Board of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the International Federation of Fertility Societies. He was president of the Sociedad Española de Fertilidad (Spanish Fertility Society) from 1994 to 1996, and is currently member of Spain’s National Commission on Assisted Human Reproduction. He has authored more than 300 chapters of books, and written more than 800 articles published in national and international journals. He has given more than 475 lectures at conferences around the world. He has been co-editor of the magazine Fertility and Sterility since 2011, and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific societies. The recognition Professor Remohí has received for his contributions to the reproductive health field have included the following distinguished awards: He was the recipient of the annual Prize Paper award of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine seven times. He received the XXV Society for Gynecological Investigation President's Award in 2002, the Premio Rey Jaime I award in the category of Clinical Medicine presented by the Fundación Premios Rey Jaime I in Valencia in 2004, the Gold Medal award of the Valencia Medical Association (Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Valencia) in 2006, the 2008 Lilly Foundation Award for Biomedical Research, presented by the Lilly Foundation in Madrid in 2008, and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2011. He also received the Jacques Salat-Baroux Prize presented by the Académie Nationale de Médecine de France in 2014, and an award recognizing IVI as an Honorary Ambassador of the Spanish Brand in Science and Innovation (Embajadores Honorarios de la Marca España) in 2015. Driven, spontaneous, methodical. His passion for medicine comes from his father, who ran a distinguished clinic in Gandía for 40 years. There, Professor Pellicer helped his father bring thousands of babies into the world. He loves his home town and is proud of his paella. He enjoys cycling and swimming, two activities that he attempts to reconcile with the fast pace of his life. Along with Professor Remohí, he established the foundations of this pilot project, adding a more scientific vision to the business perspective, both equally important to realize this dream, a project that today leads the world of reproductive medicine.
